Geboren im Jahr 1980 in Kairo/Ägypten. Ab Oktober 1998 Informatik-Studium an der Universität Bonn. Diplom im Oktober 2003. Sherif M. ElRakabawy war von Januar 2004 bis Oktober 2005 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter in der Mobile Computing Systems Gruppe an der Universität Dortmund. Seit November 2005 ist er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Rechnernetze und Verteilte Systeme an der Universität Leipzig. Seine Forschungsinteressen beinhalten Mobile Ad-Hoc/Mesh Netze und das Design effizienter Netzwerkprotokolle. Insbesondere arbeitet er an der Weiterentwicklung von TCP innerhalb eines neuartigen Mesh-Testbetts.
